First book of the year... COMPLETED! First off welcome back to me. I kind of fell off the planet for a bit. But here's a welcome back to basically my first "proper" bookstagram post. Anyway moving on - Watermoon by @samanthasottoyambao. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Onto a quick review :) This was beyond incredible. Sometimes I like to go in blind with a book and that's exactly what I did with this. I had no idea what it would be about and the most I got was that I read like a Studio Ghibli film and I just knew I had to get my hands on it. I fell in love with everything about the world immediately, from the exterior of a ramen shop and the interior (sometimes) a pawn shop run by Hana and her father, until it got ransacked! I won't write an essay, but I will say the story was incredible, a world hidden just behind our own, but completely different was unforgettable. The gorgeous details of the origami cranes to the terror of the Shiikuin. It was just effortlessly beautiful. For forever, I have felt like some new books that are being released just aren't doing it for me anymore. This book was my happy place, the breath of fresh air I've needed for a while. Thank you Samantha Sotto Yambao for this excellent story, and for the wonder that followed it (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
